Recently, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook revealed that consumers will be able to buy the iPad at a variety of locations besides Apple’s retail store. He also summarized the company’s plans for retail expansion, and gave an outline of the company’s other products at the Goldman Sachs Technology & Internet Conference in San Francisco on Tuesday.

Apple is basking in success with the rise in sale of iPhone and iPod touch. Sale of iPod touch doubled year-over-year in 2009. The iPad is set to launch in March. Cook said that he’s been using the iPad for six months now and the experience is absolutely incredible.

After experiencing what the iPad can do, consumers will have a hard time buying a Netbook. “It’s got a number of things that are appreciably better than anything available today”, added Cook, as he ticked off the device’s browsing, e-mail, and photo display capabilities.

However, Cook remained silent on whether AT&T would be selling the iPad in its retail locations since it sell the iPhone models. In January, Apple launched two models of the iPad priced between $499 and $899.

The iPad is equipped with 64GB disk space, Bluetooth, a microphone, accelerometers, ambient light sensors, and digital compass with assisted GPS technologies. Cook said that Apple intends to open 25 to 50 stores per year.

AT&T is sorry that it has dropped the ball on its iPhone coverage.

appleblackAT&T is sorry that it has dropped the ball on its iPhone coverage, really it is. According to Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook, the carrier is insisting that it is working to improve coverage in the face of declining customer satisfaction. The revelation came during Apple’s fourth-quarter earnings call.

“We have personally reviewed these plans, and we have very high confidence that they will make significant progress toward fixing them,” Cook said in a conference call.

The comment comes after mounting rumors that Apple will open its popular handset to more carriers–such as Verizon–during its announcement in San Francisco.
